Route: Alberplatz Square – Alaunstrasse – Kunsthof Passage – Jewish cemetery - Milk Shop Dresdner Molkerei Gebrüder Pfund

Duration: 2 hours

Dresden`s vibrant pub and trendy neighbourhood Äußere Neustadt has a lot to offer, and not just in the evening.

Immerse yourself in the „Colourful Republic of Neustadt“ and experience the flair of the scene: creatively and imaginatively designed house facades and backyards, such as the Kunsthof Passage, original residential projects, cult pubs, cozy cafés, stylish boutiques and fun galleries.

The close connection of living, working and recreation has strongly shaped this district over the decades. You will learn, for example, that Europe’s largest toothpaste manufacturer was located in this quarter at the beginning of the 20th century, and that the world`s first milk chocolate was produced here already in 1839 – long before Swiss competitors entered the market.

But you will also hear many stories about the writer Erich Kästner who was born in this part of Dresden in 1899 and spent his childhood here. The tour ends with a visit to what the Guinness Book of Records calls „the most beautiful milk shop in the world“.

Notice:
The walking tour of the quarter Äußere Neustadt can be combined with this one of the quarter Innere Neustadt.
